Welcome to MargDarshak ("we", "our", or "us"). MargDarshak is India's free college cutoff predictor and admission exploration platform designed for students navigating competitive national examinations including NEET UG, JEE Main, JEE Advanced, and NEET PG.
During competitive examination counseling, Indian students are frequently subjected to aggressive telemarketing, unwarranted cold calls, and predatory counseling packages from third-party lead generation firms. MargDarshak was founded with a foundational pledge: to protect student dignity and ensure zero unwanted solicitations.
Our Core Privacy Guarantee
You can predict admission chances for all 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25+ AIIMS, and hundreds of Government Medical Colleges without ever providing a phone number, home address, or entering credit card details.
Information We Collect
We prioritize data minimization. We only handle the minimum technical data necessary to calculate college admission bands and deliver web performance:

How We Process Counseling Ranks
Traditional edtech portals require students to submit their registration numbers, admit card details, and contact numbers before viewing cutoffs. MargDarshak operates differently:
- Client-Side Engine: The entire college database (covering 1500+ official MCC & JoSAA counseling rounds) is downloaded as lightweight structured JSON directly to your browser session.
- Local Matching: When you input your All India Rank or score, our filtering algorithms run locally on your device within JavaScript execution memory.
- No Central Dossier: We do not log what rank was queried alongside your IP address or internet identity.

MargDarshak uses modern web storage primitives (such as HTML5 localStorage) to enhance your user experience:
Choice List Storage
Saves your selected colleges and preferred branch order so you can review your counseling strategy over multiple days without losing progress.
UI Preferences
Remembers your last chosen exam tab (NEET UG vs JEE Main) and table column sorting preferences for convenient navigation.
You can clear these preferences at any time by clearing your browser cache or clicking "Reset Preferences" in your browser settings.
Strict Zero Data Selling Policy
We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade student data under any circumstances.
Many commercial counseling portals monetize by packaging "student leads" and selling them to private deemed universities, management quota consultants, or educational loan telemarketers. MargDarshak operates on an independent, student-first ethic:
- No data sharing with private coaching institutes or counseling brokers.
- No sponsored ranking biases: colleges are presented strictly by official JoSAA/MCC closing ranks and NIRF metrics.
- No unsolicited SMS or WhatsApp spam campaigns.
Third-Party Portals & CDNs
For visual typography and performance, MargDarshak leverages reliable global Content Delivery Networks (CDNs):
- Google Fonts: For serving typography (Outfit & Plus Jakarta Sans).
- Bootstrap Icons CDN: For UI vector glyphs.
- Official Government Links: Our directory provides outbound links to official counseling portals (e.g.
mcc.nic.in,josaa.nic.in,nta.ac.in). We are not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of external government or institutional websites.
Data Security Safeguards
We implement comprehensive technical and organizational security controls:
TLS / SSL Encryption
All traffic between your browser and our servers is secured with HTTPS 256-bit encryption in transit.
Content Security Policy
Strict security headers prevent Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and unauthorized third-party script injection.
Student Rights & DPDP 2023
In compliance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 and international privacy standards, students and guardians have the following rights:
- Right to Access: You may request a summary of any support inquiries you have filed with us.
- Right to Erasure: You can request immediate deletion of any support email or correspondence history.
- Right to Grievance Redressal: Dedicated officer support to resolve privacy queries within 48 hours.
Data Retention Period
Since MargDarshak does not maintain student user accounts or password databases, there is no permanent storage of user counseling histories on our servers. Support inquiries sent via our contact form are automatically purged from our ticketing system after 90 days of inquiry resolution.
